The Nurse Assistant provides all aspects of personal care to patients in the hospital including bathing, hygiene, nutritional assistance, activities, rehabilitation assistance etc. Number of Hours: Full-Time: 32-40 hours per week Part-Time: 16-31 hours per week Schedule: Full-Time: 4-5 shifts/week; primarily 2pm-10pm or 3pm-10pm and every 3rd weekend evenings. The Prairie Ridge RN acts a team leader at Prairie Ridge Care Center. He/she administers med/treatments and supervises and directs care for approximately 24 – 48 residents. The RN assesses resident needs, provides input to resident’s plan of care, and provides and documents resident care as identified on the plan of care. Number of Hours: Full-time: 72 hours/pay period or Casual: 8 hours/pay period Schedule: Full-time: 6am–6pm, or variety of day & evening shifts, every third weekend and holiday. The Environmental Services Associate performs general housekeeping duties which include but are not limited to dusting, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing and buffing floors, carpet care, washing windows and other housekeeping related duties. The casual position includes cleaning the Prairie Winds Event Center and other clinics ( Mill Creek, Hospers and Walk-In Clinic) Number of Hours: Casual: 1-15 hours per week Schedule: Varies, may include some nights and weekends. Educational Requirements: High school education or equivalent. He/she must be able to read, write, and communicate well. Other: The applicant must be reliable, prompt, and self- motivated. The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides patient care in the pre-hospital setting and during inter-facility transfers, according to Orange City Area Health System Ambulance protocols. The EMT will work as a team member with other EMTs and Paramedics. Number of Hours: Casual: 0-5 hours/week Schedule: Variable – no regular schedule. The ambulance is staffed by on-call EMTs 24/7. The call schedule is flexible with other work/school schedules. Educational Requirements: He/she must be willing to attend or have attended an EMT class approved by the State of Iowa. He/she must be/ become Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
The Surgical Technologist is a member of the surgical team who works with other personnel in delivering quality care to the patient and assumes responsibilities pre-operatively, intra-operatively and post-operatively. He/she demonstrates technical competence and knowledge of aseptic technique, operating room policies and procedures, equipment, and supplies and instruments used in the operating room. He/she must possess well developed critical thinking skills and positive interpersonal relationships. The tech utilizes appropriate age related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The Hospital Paramedic provides direct patient care to patients requiring emergency treatment and transport, in the out of hospital setting, and during inter-facility transports. He/she is an active member of the OCAHS ambulance team. He/she assists with inpatient and outpatient services within his/her scope of practice to include assisting with respiratory treatments, EKG’s, injections, infusions, and patient monitoring during procedures. He/she also assists with patient care in the emergency room. Number of Hours: Full-time. 36 hours/week Casual: 0 – 12 hours/week Schedule: Full-time: 3 shifts per week. 24 hour shift of on-site, 7am–7pm, and then on call 7pm–7am. Every fifth weekend & holiday. The Respiratory Therapist provides inpatient and outpatient respiratory treatment modalities. This includes treadmills, respiratory treatments, pulmonary function tests, EKG’s, holter and event monitors. He/she assists with emergent and routine care within the inpatient settings, OB and newborn, PACU, and med/surg. Number of Hours: Variable (fewer than 15 hours/week on average) Schedule: Every 4th weekend on call from Friday at 5pm until Monday at 7am and holiday and as needed. Fills in for employees on vacation or leave and shifts unfilled. Educational Requirements: Registered Respiratory Therapist, RRT, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications will be required. Other: Required to be within 20 minutes range of the hospital when on call.
The Care Coordinator is responsible for the appropriate use of inpatient services, through evaluation of admissions, use of ancillary services, and/or length of hospital stay. He/she will be responsible for assessing, coordinating, and implementing the discharge needs of the hospitalized patient. Number of Hours: Casual: Days may vary. Will coordinate with other scheduled hours within the organization. Schedule: Fill-in for vacations and other absences/requests off by the other Care Coordinators. Educational Requirements: RN. Acute care nursing background preferred and/or case management experience. Other: Must be creative and knowledgeable. The PM Cook Assistant works with the pm cook to set up meal trays for patients. He/she delivers patient trays and is involved in clean up. The PM Cook Assistant has responsibility for washing dishes, operating the dish machine, and doing assigned cleaning. He/she puts away dishes, stocks items, and helps in the cafeteria. Number of Hours: Casual: 8-10 hours/week Schedule: 4:00pm–8:00pm or after, every other weekend & holiday rotation. Educational Requirements: High school diploma desired. He/she must take a modified diet and sanitation course provided through the dietary department. Other: The applicant must have good customer service skills, be willing to fill in as needed and be a team player. He/she must be well organized and able to follow directions.
The RN delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. He/she is required to carry out all general staff duties in acute care. Number of Hours: Full-time: 32–40 hours/week or Casual 0-15 hours per week. Schedule: Full-time: 3 shifts/week, either 3:00am–3:00pm or 3:00pm–3:00am. Every third weekend and holiday. The Cook has responsibility for delivering food to the various cottages of PRCC, cleanup of cooking areas & items, operating the dish machine as needed, doing assigned cleaning and mopping as needed. He/she puts away dishes, stocks items, and services the Sidewalk Café window as needed. He/she sets up, delivers, and cleans up for special dining events. All cooks work all three shifts. Number of Hours: Full-time: 64-75 hours/pay period or part-time: 32-48 hours/pay period. Schedule: 11:30am–7:30pm. FT: 4 shifts one week; 5 shifts the following including every other weekend and holiday. PT: 3 shifts one week; 2 shifts the following including every other weekend and holiday.
