Hospice is a concept of caring for a person in the last stages of life. It is not a place, but rather a comprehensive service available to meet the needs of the individual and their family. Hospice does not hasten the time of death, nor does it postpone death. Hospice helps people live each day with comfort and dignity, retaining their individuality and control over their lives. Through skilled care, counseling, support and education, hospice helps people seek the best possible quality of life.

Hospice care involves a physician directed, specially trained team approach to care because Orange City Home Health & Hospice recognizes that the diverse and sometimes urgent needs of the individual and family cannot be met by any one person. Under the physician’s direction, the hospice team specializes in pain and symptom management, emotional, and spiritual support. The team assists the patients and families to make the most of life.

Hospice is open to people of all ages who have a life-limiting or terminal illness, have the consent of their family physician, and who have decided to receive comfort care rather than curative care.

Hospice services can be provided in home environment, nursing home or hospital setting depending on the needs of the individual and family.

Our Home Health & Hospice team — and our volunteers — offer professional and compassionate care in the home and in nursing homes and long-term-care centers.

Orange City Home Health & Hospice is Medicare-certified. Reimbursement for services is provided by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance carriers. Home care services can also be covered by long term care insurance or paid for privately. A sliding fee scale is available.

Home Health & Hospice services are provided to all regardless of age, race, religion, sex, nationality, color, handicap or the ability to pay.
