Half-day camp in Orange City scheduled for May 30
Orange City Home Health & Hospice, a division of Orange City Area Health System, is hosting “Camp Hope,” a half day grief camp for kids, on Friday, May 30 from 8am-12:30pm at the First Impact Center, 112 1st St. SW in Orange City. This camp — for children TK through sixth grade — provides an encouraging environment where children can begin to accept the death of their loved one, reflect on their relationship, and begin to understand grief and loss. Also, they may discover their own inner strength and courage, while remembering their loved one. According to Michelle Vaas, hospice social worker, “Our mission is to provide a safe place where children have the opportunity to share their feelings and experiences with other children who have also experienced death and to equip parents and caregivers with education and support.” Children can be brought to the camp as early as 7:30am. Parents and other caregivers are encouraged to join them at noon for lunch and a releasing of eco-friendly lanterns bearing special notes to their loved ones.
Please use your child’s name when registering and complete a registration form for each child attending. When we receive your registration we will contact you for parent/guardian name(s), your children’s ages, and some additional helpful information.
