Dr. Mick Vanden Bosch will be offering comprehensive, advanced ophthalmology procedures at Orange City Area Health System (OCAHS) beginning in November. Previously an outreach provider from Sanford Health, Dr. Vanden Bosch now serves OCAHS exclusively, treating a variety of eye conditions, including cataracts, in the health system’s Specialty Clinic and Surgery Center.
Procedures offered include extraction cataract, eyelid and muscle repairs, Yag laser procedures, glaucoma stents, cyst removal, biopsies, and other eye conditions. He and his medical team offer weekly appointments. No referral is needed. Patients can call the Orange City Area Health System Specialty Clinic at 712-737-5241 to schedule an appointment.

There are numerous reasons I highly recommend Dr. Mick Vanden Bosch, his team, and Orange City Area Health System for cataract surgery.
Dr. Vanden Bosch took as much time as necessary to answer my many questions; never making me feel rushed. He is very personable, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. Most important were the excellent results and how well my surgery went given my corneal dystrophy, meibomian gland dysfunction, and the hardness of my cataract.
The entire team made me feel very comfortable during surgery and provided excellent after-patient care. Dr. Vanden Bosch even personally called me the night of surgery to check how I was doing and if I had any questions. I did not expect that! Also, a huge benefit is that Dr. Vanden Bosch performs dropless cataract surgery. No drops are required before or after the surgery. Medication was administered during surgery. I didn’t have to worry about using the right drops at the right time or the cost of the drops. And, because Dr. Vanden Bosch is with Sanford Health, I found it convenient sending questions through MyChart. When I did, his nurse answered promptly.
I also found advantages having the surgeries in Orange City. With surgery in the morning and post-op in the afternoon, I was able to go home and rest between the two. Orange City Area Health System personnel provided excellent care before, during, and after surgery. The surgery staff even sent a personally signed get well card and called the next day to check how I was doing and answer any follow-up care questions. I couldn’t have asked for a better surgery experience or more competent care.
