The Infusion Center Registered Nurse will deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. He/she assists in patient teaching and is a link between the medical provider, pharmacy and patients. This RN will assist with the oncology clinic and the administration of chemotherapy treatments as well as outpatient infusions during clinic hours. He/she will work closely with the oncology staff as well as other oncology RN’s. This RN will have the key responsibility for pre-authorization of oncology and outpatient infusions.
Number of Hours: Part Time: 16 hours/week. May supplement with hours on the hospital floor to be a Full Time Position
Schedule: Various shifts between Monday – Friday; 8 am – 4pm. The days of the week will be flexible hours based on treatment & pre-authorization needs. Will include every 6th weekend and 6th holiday.
Educational Requirements: RN licensure in the state of Iowa. Must be willing to stay current and knowledgeable with chemotherapy and Medicare guidelines that pertain to chemotherapy administration. Must be willing to complete the online Chemotherapy-Biotherapy Certification every 2 years. BLS & ACLS Required.
Other: The applicant must work well with patients, physicians, and staff in a professional and confidential manner. He/she must possess the ability to function independently with strong assessment skills, and IV skills. He/she must be a good communicator and have strong interpersonal skills.
