Board-Certified General Surgeon
Dr. Brent Nykamp is a board-certified general surgeon who has been providing comprehensive surgical care at Orange City Area Health System since 2008. With nearly two decades of experience serving Northwest Iowa, he is dedicated to delivering excellent, individualized care close to home.
Dr. Nykamp earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School before completing both his internship and residency in general surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, a nationally recognized Level I trauma center and academic medical center. There, he received extensive clinical training and experience with complex surgical cases. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and maintains a strong commitment to ongoing education in the advancements in surgical care.
As a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Nykamp has achieved a distinguished professional designation recognizing surgeons who have demonstrated high standards of education, training, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct. Fellowship in the American College of Surgeons represents a commitment to excellence in patient care and the advancement of the surgical profession.
Throughout his career, Dr. Nykamp has developed extensive experience in general surgery, providing care for patients with a variety of surgical needs. He is known for his thoughtful, compassionate approach and for taking the time to ensure patients understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and recovery expectations.
Originally from Edgerton, Minnesota, Dr. Nykamp values practicing in a community-focused setting where he can build lasting relationships with patients and families. His lasting commitment to the region reflects his dedication to providing reliable, trusted surgical care for the communities he serves.
Dr. Nykamp is married and has 3 children. He enjoys outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, exploring the outdoors as well as working on projects around their acreage.
