Prenatal Care
Regular prenatal care is essential for a healthy pregnancy and delivery. Your healthcare provider will be with you every step of the way, monitoring your health and that of your baby. This includes regular appointments for prenatal testing such as ultrasounds, measurements, and genetic testing if you opt for it. Your provider will also conduct tests to ensure your health as the mother is closely monitored. This new chapter brings many questions, and we want to provide you with useful, concise information that will help you navigate the coming months. You and your obstetrician will collaborate on an individualized birthing plan. Expectant mothers develop a strong bond with their provider, who is available to answer questions, offer advice, and provide personalized guidance throughout every stage of pregnancy.
Our Birth Center has recently been renovated and is now a secure facility that offers three labor and delivery rooms, each designed to provide optimal comfort and safety for both mother and baby. Our rooms come equipped with a range of amenities, including a whirlpool tub, a large screen entertainment center, and a sleeper sofa for the new mom's partner to rest and stay close. We strive to provide the best experience possible for our patients and their families.
Postpartum Care
Every new mother, baby, and family receives special postpartum care, including an in-home visit and access to a 24/7 OB nurse for additional support and questions. Additionally, Orange City Area Health System offers postpartum physical therapy.
Breastfeeding can be challenging, but it creates a unique bond between mom and baby. Orange City Area Health System has three lactation counselors to help newborns get the best start in life.
At Orange City Area Health System, we consider it a privilege to provide care for babies from conception through pregnancy, delivery, and after birth. Our top priority is ensuring a safe birth for the baby and mother. Our next priority is offering a personalized experience in a comfortable and welcoming environment for the whole family to celebrate the new arrival. Our skilled and compassionate hospital staff has allowed us to deliver annual births in the low to mid-200s. These families come from 33 different zip codes in the region.
