Long Term Care residents and staff compete in Chili Cookoff

Residents' Choice Winner Jeanette Bosch & Sharon Vermeer, Dietary Manager
Residents, staff, friends, and family got fired up for the first Chili Cookoff at Long Term Care senior care facility in Orange City on Wednesday, March 7. Eight entries competed for three Judges’ awards and one Residents’ Choice award. Residents submitted their favorite recipes, and Long Term Care (LTC) staff or a member of the resident’s family prepared the chili for taste testing. The Resident’s Choice award was given to LTC resident Jeanette Bosch; her chili was made by Orange City Area Health System Dietary Manager Sharon Vermeer. (The two winning ladies are pictured here.) The three judges were Marty Guthmiller (health system CEO), Char Ten Clay (Director of Senior Care), and Bob Feekes (LTC Maintenance). These spicy judges awarded prizes to:  first place Kate Woods (LTC Cook), second place Carolyn De Haan (LTC resident), third place Lee Reinders (LTC Housekeeper).
