Owned and operated by Orange City Area Health System, Landsmeer Ridge is dedicated to assisting and supporting residents in maintaining an active, independent and healthy lifestyle. Hallways have handrails on both sides; carpets do not have padding beneath them to promote better safety for those whose gait has become unstable or who shuffle; each apartment has two urgency call stations; regular professional toe-trimming service and annual flu shots are scheduled on-site; awake staff is on duty 24 hours a day; and the manager is an RN who is able to answer questions and provide guidance regarding health concerns.
Should a resident need to move to a different level of living assistance, Landsmeer Ridge residents have priority admission at our Prairie Ridge Care Center next door, an 89 bed Skilled Nursing facility which includes an 11 bed memory care cottage.
The Main Street at Landsmeer Ridge
Upon entering the main door of Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community you will find yourself in the Fireside Room, a large living room used for educational presentations; musical programs; wine and cheese affairs; and just general visiting.
The Treat Shoppe is a popular place for residents and their guests to stop for an ice cream cone, popcorn, cup of cappuccino, coffee or a cold drink. The Orange City Public Library comes monthly to change out the books in our own library and residents are often found there reading, using the computers or working on jig saw puzzles. Those who are feeling a bit shaggy can make an appointment with the hairdresser for anything from a haircut to a “wash and set” to a permanent in the salon.* The private dining room, which seats 10 comfortably, is centrally located for ease of access by residents of either the Independent or Assisted areas of the building and can be reserved for entertaining a served meal for guests.
Administration offices are easily accessed by tenants and visitors for needs ranging from assistance in engaging the services of the local RIDES van; questions regarding local events; registering an apartment repair need; etc.

Independent Living
The Independent Living wing of Landsmeer Ridge is made up of 36 apartments. Originally built with 20 apartments, it has been expanded twice due to demand. The apartments in independent living have been thoughtfully planned for maximum comfort and privacy. There are four sizes of apartments available.
Each apartment has its own patio, individually-controlled central heating/air conditioning and emergency call stations. Apartments are unfurnished but have fully equipped kitchens including stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher (residents may choose to have a dishwasher or have it replaced with a matching cabinet-drawer unit), and garbage disposal. Each apartment has a walk-in closet and two other closets. While each apartment has a designated space for a stackable washer/dryer unit, the Independent Living area also has two laundry rooms, each with two washers and dryers available to residents at no charge.
Assisted Living
The Assisted Living area of the building offers residents independence with a little extra help. There are two types of Assisted Living apartments – studio alcove and one bedroom, carefully designed for freedom and convenience.
Each apartment has individually-controlled central heating/air conditioning and emergency call stations. Apartments are unfurnished but have kitchenettes equipped with a small refrigerator, sink, and microwave. Each apartment has two closets with an additional storage cupboard provided for those with studio apartments, down the hall.
Th assisted living apartments offer the comfort of home with the support needed to remain independent and active. Three nutritious meals daily, cable TV, wireless internet, hallway handrails, handicapped assistive features, weekly light housekeeping, weekly flat linen service, 24 hour awake staff, in-apartment emergency call transmitters, an RN in the building weekdays, scheduled transportation, and scheduled activities are all provided. Also available is assistance with, dressing, bathing, taking medication, bed-making, personal laundry and general household tasks.
