Robert Lewis, “The Happy Diabetic,” presents A Recipe for Better Living
Orange City Area Health System will host its 13th annual “Evening Especially for Women” on Tuesday, October 22, at the Prairie Winds Event Center in Orange City. Chef Robert Lewis, known as The Happy Diabetic, will present a live cooking demonstration, A Recipe for Better Living. Chef Robert graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1976. He then worked as executive chef for Hyatt Hotels in six locations across the U.S. Chef Robert has also served in several other hospitality positions, and is currently the director of training and development and corporate chef for Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream Parlors. In 1998 Chef Robert was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and thus began his motivation to create great tasting, healthy dishes that are easy to prepare. Robert has worked with Al Roker, Richard Simmons, Ann Curry, and many others, and has presented in hospitals and health fair in several states. He is the author of two cookbooks, which he will autograph and sell at the October 22 event. In addition to this lively cooking demonstration, there will be 16 vendors (listed below) on hand offering many fun products for sale, plus door prizes. Doors open at 5pm, and the cooking presentation begins at 6:15pm. Tickets are $15 per person, which includes a buffet of fresh salads, appetizers, sweet treats, and one complimentary beverage.
