The focus of this program is “Teen Health & Wellness.” Presenters include Kara DeGroot, nurse practitioner at Orange City Area Health System; Olivia Chapman, diabetes care coordinator at Orange City Area Health System; and Dan Foreman, physical therapist with Therapeutic Health Services. They will discuss sports physicals; the “female triad” (eating disorders, amenorrhaea or cessation of menstruation, and decreased bone mineral density, which is seen in female teen athletes); the controversial use of supplements; signs and symptoms of diabetes in youth; teen diet and wellness; signs and symptoms of concussions; and sports injury and prevention. The host for the evening is Therapeutic Health Services. The program is offered free, and anyone involved with youth is encouraged to attend. No pre-registration is required.
