Our team of Family Medicine Physicians and Experienced surgeons will collaborate with your Oncologist to determine your best individualized treatment options. Surgery to remove the cancerous area or surgical removal alongside other treatments may be recommended.

During your surgery, or team of experienced surgeons will remove the cancerous tissue.

Cancer Procedures

Lumpectomy - Our surgeons may remove a small area of tissue (or lump) in the impacted area.

Mastectomy - In some cases, your care may require removal of all or most of your breast tissue in order to eradicate cancerous cells and tissue.

Colon - Colon Cancer is often identified (or discovered) during a routine or screening colonoscopy procedure. When a suspicious area of tissue or polyp is identified, a surgeon may biopsy the area or remove the polyp to be examined by a pathologist. After results have been received, depending on findings the affected are of the colon may need to be removed by one of our experienced general surgeons. This often results in an inpatient stay for between two to five days. Your experienced surgeon will discuss your care plan and projected length of stay which is dependent on surface area of involvement identified for removal and your overall health. Colonoscopy is the insertion of a flexible instrument through the anus to examine the colon for screening or diagnostic purposes.

Thyroid - Discovery of thyroid cancer can result in a need to remove part of, or all of your thyroid gland. This service is offered at OCAHS by one of our talented outreach providers, Dr. Kurtis Korver, MD. Either partial or full removal of your thyroid gland typically result in a two to five day inpatient stay in our hospital. Your ENT surgeon will discuss your care plan and projected length of stay with you in detail prior to and following your surgical procedure.

Lymph Node - Our team of experienced surgeons performs biopsies and dissections.

  • Biopsy - The removal of lymph node tissue for examination under a microscope.
  • Dissection - The surgical removal of one or more groups of lymph nodes. This is a common procedure performed for surgical management of cancer.
