BEATY ASSUMES ROLE OF DIABETES EDUCATOR

Shannon Beaty, BSN Diabetes Education Coordinator and Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse Coordinator
Shannon Beaty, B.S.N., has recently assumed the position of Diabetes Education Coordinator for Orange City Area Health System. Beaty takes on this role in addition to her position as Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse/Coordinator for the health system. She has served as a nurse for 18 years, in roles including med-surg, intensive care, and cardiac rehab, and she also teaches ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) at the Orange City hospital. In her dual role — and regarding February being American Heart Month — Beaty says that “There is a strong link between diabetes and heart disease, but making good choices such as moderate, healthy eating, moving more, and knowing your numbers are all things that can slow the progression of both disease processes, keeping you strong and more independent down the road.” For information about Orange City Area Health System’s diabetes or cardiac rehab programs and services, contact the medical clinic at 737-2000 or visit ocHealthSystem.org.
