Van De Griend joins OCAHS family practice

VandeGriend.Philip_LCMarty Guthmiller, CEO of Orange City Area Health System, announced the signing of Philip Van De Griend, MD, to its medical team. Dr. Van De Griend will join the health system in summer 2015. He will provide family medicine services as part of the health system’s team of 18 family practice providers serving the hospital, emergency department, and medical clinics in Orange City, Hospers, and Paullina, Iowa, and on the campus of Northwestern College. Dr. Van De Griend has a strong interest and training in sports medicine and will offer these services as well to area athletes as part of our Sports Medicine Clinic.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Dr. Van De Griend join our health team,” said Guthmiller. “He not only will bring a broad skill set with him but also represents the next generation of physicians here in Orange City.”

Van De Griend is a native of Orange City. He received his B.A. in psychology from Dordt College and his Masters of Public Health from the University of Iowa. In 2011 Van De Griend received his Medical Degree from Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City. He completed his family practice residency at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine/Palmetto Health Richland Family Medicine in Columbia, South Carolina this summer and will complete a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, NC in July 2015.
