HEALTH SYSTEM ACQUIRES PHYSICAL THERAPY PRACTICE

HEALTH SYSTEM ACQUIRES PHYSICAL THERAPY PRACTICE Ownership, management of Therapeutic Health Services transfers to Orange City Area Health System Marty Guthmiller, CEO of Orange City Area Health System (OCAHS) has announced that Therapeutic Health Services (THS) – a contracted partner of the health system located at its main campus – will transition to a wholly-owned entity of the hospital effective April 1, 2017, following Board of Trustee action in January. Mark Hulst, PT – owner and manager of Therapeutic Health Services – will transition the organization’s management role to Dan McCarty, COO of Orange City Area Health System, who assumes leadership of the THS practice and staff. Hulst is retiring from his Orange City-based practice after 37 years providing physical, occupational, and aquatic therapy in partnership with OCAHS. THS has a staff of 10 physical therapists, four physical therapy assistants, two occupational therapists, and support personnel who offer a range of therapy services at its Orange City facilities. They provide outpatient therapy and rehabilitation, in-patient therapy within the hospital, and athletic training and support to the region in partnership with Orange City Area Health System’s sports medicine clinic and family medicine providers. “We at OCAHS are excited to have our long-term partners at THS join the Orange City Area Health System employee family,” reported McCarty. “We look forward to continuing the excellent services provided to our patients and their families.” The THS facilities – located in the Medical Office Building at the west end of the Orange City Area Health System hospital/clinics – opened in conjunction with the new OCAHS “total healing” campus in 2006. It houses state-of-the-art equipment and technology in a spacious, naturally-lit environment, and also features a therapy pool and two resistance pools for safe and effective exercise and therapy. “This acquisition complements our mission of serving our region in an even more comprehensive manner,” said Guthmiller. “It has been an honor to work beside Mark and his THS team over the years, and we look forward to building on the firm foundation they have established.”
